We would like to formally congratulate Julia Duenas, who won the coveted crown of Miss Philippines Canada 2023!
She hails from Chatham, Ontario and is currently pursuing a degree in Nursing at McMaster University. Julia remains deeply rooted in family values and recently visited her parents' hometown of Lucena City, Quezon Province, Philippines earlier this year. The talent she chose to showcase for the pageant was also a strong indicator of how close she is to her roots. She performed a unique number on the Marimba accompanied by her mom on the piano and her dad on the guitar where they performed, "Lawiswis Kawayan" originating from Samara, Leyte. Julia exemplifies what it truly means to be a proud Filipina-Canadian!
Her beauty and kind heart immediately caught the attention of the judges and her fellow candidates. In addition to garnering the title of Miss Philippines Canada 2023, she also won Best in Casual Wear.
To the other ladies who competed in last weekend's pageant, we would like to convey our heartfelt appreciation for all of your hard work! Julia, alongside some of the other pageant queens will be travelling to the Philippines in January 2024 to fulfill the mission to 'Have fun, while Helping others' and 'Having an Experience of a Lifetime!'
